Welcome to Smith School

The Emma C. Smith Elementary School community works hard to ensure high levels of learning for all students in order to prepare them to become responsible citizens and productive community members.  Smith offers a learning environment with high expectations that allows each student to grow as an individual.

We strive for students to experience the excitement of learning and develop the love of knowledge.  We believe that educating students is a cooperative effort between the home and school.

SoulShoppe Beyond Bullying Assembly

We were excited on January 25, 2018 to bring an anti-bullying assembly to Smith. Students, staff, playground supervisors and PTA board members enjoyed the assembly.  We will work together to bring what we learned to Smith daily.  Thank you to PTA for funding the assembly.

PTA Supports Smith School

Thank you to PTA for supporting Smith School. This year PTA has funded teacher budgets, breakfast book club, family fun nights, holiday store, grade level money, AR prizes, assemblies, beautification, community support, FAME, field day, field trip scholarships, fifth grade promotion, fitness, GATE, hospitality, Kid Connection needs, student lunches, math olympiads, multicultural festival, online educational programs, playground equipment, psychologist needs, speech therapist needs, STEAM Faire, sunshine math, talent show, teacher appreciation, technology, and young author’s week.  More recently, PTA has purchased 3 new chromebook carts with chromebooks, 32 additional chromebooks, boxes to house TK and K chromebooks, 4 mac minis for the library, and a printer for the library.

Electronic Communication Devices

We have students that are taking pictures, videos and using their cell phones during recess.  This is not allowed at school due to privacy laws.

Students at Smith are only allowed to use cell phones, cell watches, and other electronic communication devices with teacher permission in the classroom.  They are not allowed to be used outside of the classroom on campus.

Students that use their electronic communication devices without permission will be sent to the office and their device will be held there for a parent to pick up.  On the second offense, the device will not be allowed on campus again.

California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)

Parents, your students will be taking the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) online this month.  It is an anonymous survey focused on youth resilience and health risk behavior.  The data collected will be used to help improve health and prevention programs offered to students that can promote academic success, well-being, and positive development of our youth.  If you would like to view the content of the survey, you can ask the school office to see a copy of the survey or you can click here:   http://www.livermoreschools.com/curriculum.
